Collegium 1704: Il Polifemo
Jednooký a tříprstý kyklop Polyfémos ze starořeckých pověstí se stal ústřední postavou mnoha mytických příběhů a také jejich zhudebnění z pera barokních autorů. Postava tohoto Poseidónova syna a obra nepřekonatelné síly se objevuje v řadě bájí, z nichž nejznámější jsou souboje s Odysseem při jeho návratu do vlasti a Théseem, který Polyféma zabije. Italský basista Luigi De Donato charakterem svého hlasu i svým charismatem představuje ideální ztělesnění postavy Polyféma a společně s Collegiem 1704 představí v Praze v premiéře komorní koncertní projekt, který vdechne život dávným řeckým bájím.

Polyphemus, the one-eyed, three-fingered cyclops from ancient Greek legends, became a central figure in many mythical stories and also in their musical settings penned by Baroque composers. This son of Poseidon and giant of unsurmountable strength appears in a number of legends, the best known of which are his encounters with Odysseus during the latter’s homeward journey and with Theseus, who kills Polyphemus. The Italian bass Luigi De Donato is the ideal embodiment of the character Polyphemus because of his voice and his charisma, and he will appear together with Collegium 1704 in Prague for the premiere of a chamber concert project that will breathe life into ancient Greek legends.
