Flétna kouzelná: Café Zimmermann

Pro Mozartovy flétnové kvartety by se dala použít jeho vlastní slova: „Jsou velmi jiskrné, lahodné uchu a přirozené, aniž by působily prázdně; tu a tam mohou i znalci sami v nich nalézti zalíbení, avšak i ti, kdož se v hudbě nevyznají, musejí býti spokojeni — aniž by sami věděli proč.“ Okolnosti vzniku těchto kvartetů však přispěly k představě, že Mozart flétnu neměl v oblibě. Německý lékař F. Dejean mu zadal objednávku na skladby se sólovou flétnou. Mozart si dával na čas, čímž rozčílil svého otce i slavného flétnistu Wendlinga. Mozart se hájil slovy: „Víte přece, že hned zemdlen bývám, jakmile mám psáti pro nástroj, jejž nemohu vystáti“ a anekdota byla na světě. Přesto stručně řečeno: nejkrásnější komorní hudba „pro znalce i amatéry“.

One can use Mozart’s own words to describe his flute quartets: “They are very brilliant, pleasant to the ear, and natural without descending into empti-ness; here and there the cognoscenti will be pleased, but even those who are not musical experts must find satisfaction without themselves knowing why.” However, the circumstances under which these quartets were composed contributed to the im-pression that Mozart did not like the flute. The German physician F. Dejean had commissioned him to write compositions for solo flute. Mozart took his time, and this annoyed his father and the famous flautist Wendling. Mozart defended himself, saying: “You well know, after all, that I go limp whenever I’m asked to write for an instrument that I can’t stand.” Thus the story of Mozart’s dis-taste for the flute was born. Still, to put it simply, this is the loveliest chamber music “for experts and amateurs”.
